There are lies, damned lies, and statistics, a quote attributed to Mark Twain. The American Psychiatric Association’s DSM-5 does not qualify for damned lies. It lands six levels below that into the territory of bloody fraud. The group did not even bother to adhere to the fraudulent statistics part of the title.

Diagnosis & Statistical Manual of Mental Disorders or The Book of Fraud

An Open Letter to:

Vivian B. Pender, MD and Rebecca Brendel, MD, JD: American Psychiatric Association (APA)

Francis S. Collins — Joshua A. Gordon, MD., Ph. D.: National Institute of Mental Health (NIMH)

US Surgeon General, Vice Admiral Vivek H. Murthy, MD, MBA

US Secretary of Health and Human Services, Xavier Becerra

Center for Medicare Services Office of the Inspector General, Principal Deputy Inspector General Christi Grimm

CDC Director, Rochelle Walensky

James L. Madara, MD, Chief Executive Officer & Executive Vice President: American Medical Association (AMA)

Daniel H. Gillison, Jr., Chief Executive Officer: National Alliance on Mental Illness (NAMI)

And to the mental illness cottage industry and the American psychiatric industrial complex

(I did not elect to enter this arena. I was dragged into it kicking and screaming. If any decent and ethical psychiatrist or mental health worker out there is insulted by the content of this article, either in part or in whole, like I always reminded my students, the exceptions do not make the rule. Although I readily recognize and acknowledge that they do exist, nonetheless).

I am prime for multiple labels by this ghastly industry. I am a congenitally defiant social change advocate; I stand up and tell the world who I am, and refuse to be turned into everybody else but me; I break out in hives in the face of usurpation of power and abuse of authority; I adamantly refuse to be “re-directed” by anyone; I get nauseated by disinformation and propaganda, and corruption raises my blood pressure. Oh! I forgot the bipolar part: I have confidence and drive, and I believe in “God.”
